The newly built Ambassador Hotel should be taking in its first guests by May this year.
The 260-room Movenpick Ambassador Hotel as it will be known will be Ghana’s first five-star hotel replete with a Presidential suite, a restaurant with a seating capacity of 350 and an 800-seat multi-purpose ballroom among other facilities.
The grand opening is however slated for the third quarter of the year.
Project Manager, Clovis Abi Nader told Joy Business management has already started recruitment of some 300 staff who will be trained to work at the hotel.
He said the hotel is built to meet international standards and will introduce higher standards in the hotel industry.
“We are giving much higher quality of service, much higher state-of-the-art equipment so we need to train the people – give them a couple of months of training and testing before we do the grand opening,” he added.
Mr Abi Nader said there were plans to build residential facilities for outright purchase. The project which was commissioned in 2006 and originally scheduled to be completed in 2008 is a joint venture between the government of Ghana and the Saudi Prince and businessman, Al Waleed Bin Talal.
