Ghana have been rated as Africa’s best nation in the latest Fifa ranking released, Wednesday.
The Black Stars are now placed 15th on the ranking ahead of next week’s friendly international against Togo in Antwerp, Belgium.
Due to the significant devaluation of the points won a year ago at the Africa Cup of Nations, many teams have slid down the rankings this month.
The World Cup quarter-finalists take over from African champions Egypt who fell drastically from 13 place to 33.
Ivory Coast are the second ranked country on the continent and 26th in the World.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria also slipped eight places down and now ranked 40th; Algeria moved down 19 places to place 55th.
There are no changes at the summit of the global ladder, but Japan (17th, up 12), who became continental champions for a fourth time in Doha, have re-entered the top 20 after an absence of almost five years.
