The Communications Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, Mr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, has congratulated the technical and playing body for winning this year’s Onetouch/GHALCA Top Four League.
He said it was imperative that the team won the Top Four competition at a time it was recovering from the difficulties and shock of the just-ended Premier league and expressed optimism that the feat would serve as a good omen for greater things to befall the team in future competitions.
Mr Baah-Nuakoh was interacting with newsmen in Kumasi on his impression about Kotoko’s performance in the Top Four league.
The Porcupine Warriors won their second Top Four league title on Sunday despite losing 0-1 to Accra Hearts of Oak in their last match at Sunyani, a feat that has given Kotoko some life line after their dismal performance in the Premier League.
Baah-Nuakoh noted that the competition was a healthy exercise and that the Top Four competition has helped management to assess the weaknesses and strength of the team ahead of next season’s Premier League.
He said despite the team’s sterling performance there was still more room for improvement and therefore cautioned the players and technical team to shun complacency and rather strive for excellence in future competitions.
The Kotoko Communication Director called on the supporters to resolve to play influential roles in the team’s development while cautioning them to refrain from practices that bedeviled Kotoko’s growth.
Even though Kotoko triumphed in the Top Four competition, many Kotoko supporters in Kumasi lambasted the playing body for losing 0-1 to Hearts, their arch rivals in their last match.
Whilst some took a swipe at the strikers for squandering begging chances, others attributed the loss to complacency on the team’s part, saying there was the need for the team to sit up and avoid such defeats in future competitions.
