Ghanaian boxer Joseph Laryea is looking forward to emulating Barimah Azumah Nelson’s feat in the Super Featherweight division when he fights later next month for the WBO title.
Laryea will challenge the champion Ricky Burns in the UK on March 12 and will hope to replicate the February 1988 feat of legend Azumah Nelson who defeated Mario Martinez to win the WBC Super Featherweight title.
The UK has proven a tough terrain for Ghanaian boxers but Laryea is prepared to break that jinx according to his trainer Joseph Quayefio popularly known as Swizz.
Trainer Quayefio said he and his boxer recognized Ricky Burns as a good boxer but maintained they were mapping a strategy to counter him.
