New Black Stars Coach Goran Stevanovic officially begins work today and already he has to think of his first game next week Wednesday when the Black Stars play Togo in an international friendly at Antwerp in Belgium.
Stevanovic has been touring Europe and he has met with some of his players like Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari.
The 44-year-old will not come to Ghana before the game and is expected to join the team in Belgium for the game.
There are high expectations of Stevanovic’s reign and President of the FA Kwasi Nyantakyi explains his assessment has begun.
“I think right from the day of appointment up to when he exits, every activity including matches he plays will be used as part of the assessment process and criteria to look at how well he organizes his team, the results he achieves and how he relates with the players and the general performance of the team,” he said.
Mr Nyantakyi told February 8 match against Togo will therefore be the starting point of the assessment of Stevanovic.
He conceded that because the coach is yet to know all the players, his assistants will primarily select the team for the Togo match.
Meanwhile lawyers of the FA are expected to appear at the Human Rights Court later this morning to begin the hearing of its case against the Economic and Organized Crime Office.
This follows the state antigraft agency’s raid on the GFA Secretariat in December last year to investigate funds provided by the sponsors of the FA.
