Last Saturday’s 5-1 thrashing of Guinea by the Black Queens in Accra completed a 7-1 aggregate win that takes Ghana to the next round of the qualifying campaign.
Results have been tough to come by lately for the Queens with disappointing group stage exit at the last two editions of Africa Cup of Nations.
But the situation is gradually changing as the Queens edge closer to an historic Olympic Games qualification.
Coach of the team, Anthony Edusei, was magnanimous even in victory.
He said the Guinean side put up a spirited performance, but added superior technical quality prevailed.
Coach Edusei said the team was cognizant of the fact that as they moved to the next round of matches, opposition will be stiff and efforts are underway to fend off any opposition.
Captain of the side, Florence Okoe was on the score sheet as well as Akua Sika, Agnes Aduako and Safia Ramat for a new looking Queens’s team.
She told Joy Sports “after a shameful performance in South Africa,” it was a daunting challenge lifting the spirit of the team but was happy they had managed to do that.
She is hopeful that with hard work, the chances of the team qualifying for the games are bright.
