Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has played down talk of harsh weather conditions affecting the Black Stars before and during their game against Uganda.
Ghana will host the Cranes in only their third game in Tamale with the aim of beginning the road to Tamale on a winning note.
Despite the harsh weather conditions, the captain is confident that should not deter them from picking the three maximum points at stake.
“I will like to thank the Tamale fans for their good reception at the airport. We felt very welcome and we really appreciate it. This is the third time we are playing in Tamale and I am sure the stadium is going to be full like the other two games," he said.
The weather is going to be difficult for us but it is not going to be an excuse.
Gyan has not featured for Ghana in a competitive game since November 2015 when he played in Ghana’s 2-0 victory over Comoros with injuries hampering his progress.
However, Gyan is confident his injuries are behind him and will hopefully lead Ghana to another victory.
“I am getting better. In my last match (for Al-Ahli), I scored twice and played for 90 minutes. I am still not hundred percent though but I am getting there," he told reporters after Tuesday's training session.
"My body feels good and I am working on my endurance so I do not get tired quickly," he disclosed.
"I am working with my colleagues and everyone will support me to do what I do best. We are all praying for victory on Friday," he said enthusiastically.
Gyan has 48 goals in 95 international matches with the Black Stars.
