A Professional Marketing Consultant and Executive Director of Zane Investment, Mr. Kweku Adumatta has called on Ghanaian sportsmen to develop the habit of investing their earnings to secure a better future.
According to him, the first thing every sportsman must do is to invest in educating themselves since it will always be part of them. It also helps them to understand terms and conditions of contractual agreements they engage in without necessarily using interpreters and mediators who can take advantage of them.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s sports morning show, Mr. Adumatta warned Ghanaian sportsmen to carefully think about their lavish lifestyle of investing most of their earnings into flashy cars and houses. He said rather, they should develop the habit of investing in something which in the future when their stardom fades will always be there to take care of them.
He believes that, sportsmen represent a brand which gives them a great opportunity to invest in that brand since everybody will love to associate with you because of your status in the game and this will help sustain you in the future when that stardom is more there.
Mr Adumattan noted that, the local players who are not earning that much as the foreign players are not excluded when it comes to investing because proper planning of using the little they are earning now can turn things around for them in the future.
He advised the people around these celebrities to always offer tangible advice than concentrating on what they will earn from them and also called on the clubs to have people who can advise their footballers on how to use their money efficiently.
He recounted on some old players who he believes the young ones should take a clue from how they managed their earnings profitably that they are now reaping the benefits after retiring from the game.
