The Ministry of Health has sent a congratulatory message to Dr. Anarfi Asamoa-Baah on his appointment as the Deputy Director General of the World Health Organisation.
A statement from the Ministry says it is not surprised at Dr. Asamoa's appointment since his records show this feat. It says Dr. Asamoa Baah was instrumental in the health sector, the Civil Service and in budget and financial systems in the wider Public Service.
He also served on a number of inter-sectoral committees and taught as a part-time lecturer at the Ghana Medical School and the School of Public Health.
Dr. Asamoa-Baah qualified as a Medical Doctor from the Ghana Medical School in 1984 and practised at the Offinso Government Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
He pursued further studies in the UK where he obtained post-graduate qualifications in Community Health Planning, Health Economics and Health Policy Analysis.
Dr. Asamoa-Baah returned home to work with the Ministry, when he was appointed Acting Director of newly created Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division. The Ministry of Health urges all Health professionals to see his appointment as a motivation as well as a challenge.
