The Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital is constructing a new edifice to house patients with immune-compromised diseases to prevent them from further infections.
Dr Paul Ntodi, Regional Medical Director of the hospital, told the GNA in an interview that the edifice dubbed: 'Anti-Retroviral Centre' when completed, would also help to ease congestion at the Out Patients Department of the hospital.
He said the National AIDS Control Programme had provided an unspecified amount for the completion of the edifice, adding "It is the hope of the management that the centre would serve the needs of HIV/AIDS patients as well as other health needs of the public".
Dr Ntodi said the hospital will also operate an eye clinic from the structure when completed.
He noted that the hospital's infrastructure needed to be expanded to cater for the growing demand of healthcare services in the Region.
