The Apam District Magistrate Court has granted bail in the sum of 100 million cedis with one surety each to be justified to two teachers from Apam Methodist A&C Schools and a businessman from Agona Swedru for conspiring to use pay slips belonging to two teachers in the Gomoa District to buy hire purchase goods.
Dompson Felix, 28, Seth Kwasi Mensah, 45, the teachers and Charles K. Hanson, the businessman pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring and committing crime.
The court, presided over by Charles Wiafe ordered them to re-appear on June 25, this year.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector James Okai, told the court that the accused perons managed to secure the pay slips of the two teachers, whose names were being withheld for security reasons to buy items on hire purchase totalling about ¢49 million.
The items including 21-inch colour television set, mobile phones, double door deep freezer, were collected from a hire purchasing company based in Accra.
Chief Inspector Okai said one of the complainants who is currently a student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) detected the deduction of items bought from the company on his pay slip.
The prosecution said the teacher went to the Accountant General’s Department pay section, where he found out that someone had used his name to buy items.
He said the complainant reported the matter to the Apam police and during investigations, it came out that the accused persons had used the names and pay slips of the teachers for the deal.
