Real Tamale United are counting on the return of centre back Shilla Illiasu and his elder brother striker Shilla Alhassan to revive the club’s dwindling fortunes when the second round of the Glo Premier League commences this weekend.
Shilla Illiasu, who was an influential member of the Black Stars at the Germany 2006 World Cup, is keen on re-launching his career with the Tamale-based club after a long injury lay off at Russian outfit FC Saturn in 2008.
His elder brother Shilla Alhassan, who has had stints with Asante Kotoko and King Faisal, is also seeking to revive his goal scoring form in the Premier League after an impressive display at Division One League side Guan United.
RTU lie second from bottom on the league table after picking up twelve points from 15 matches.
Board Member of RTU, Jones Abu Alhassan told Joy Sports the signing of the Shilla brothers was timely.
He said technical analysis of the club’s performance indicate weaknesses in central defence and attack and thought it wise to sign the two to reinforce the side.
Mr Abu said while Shilla Alhassan may not have the power and the energy he had a decade ago, he certainly has the experience to score the goals when it matters most.
