Dan Botwe saddened by Presidential debate

New Patriotic Party presidential aspirant and former General Secretary, Dan Botwe says he is saddened by current discussions, especially by party members on whether ministers interested in the presidency should continue in office or resign. He said the decision was a collective one which was taken at the highest decision making level of the party, conference, and the current debate was totally embarrassing, moreso when the arguments tend to suggest that the decision was taken without much thought. “I’m getting a bit sad and almost embarrassed when I hear the discussions. For those who are outside our party you can excuse them, but for those who are supposedly members of our party and senior members for that matter who were also at Cape Coast…If we don’t take care we may be selling ourselves to people who may not wish us well or who are outside our party that the whole intellectual party like the New Patriotic Party, party that has boasted that we have the men, the party has roots in the rule of law, the party for which Danquah and others died for, we mean when we discussed these matters at Cape Coast we didn’t know what we were doing, we didn’t know that we were going to meet things?” According to Dan Botwe who was speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, said the underlying principle for the provision in the party’s constitution was to prevent a situation of creating in government, a Cabinet of rival ministers. He said the party’s constitution adequately protects the position of the Vice President in the party’s elections as well as those of ministers, and the party must play by its own rules if it must be focussed.
