The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed charges against two players who were said to have attacked Referee Charles Bulu in the match day 22, 2015/16 Premier League fixture against New Edubiase at Bekwai.
Kotoko lost 2-1 in the controversy-ridden match. Subsequently, the referee reported that, he was attacked by three players – Amos Frimpong, Ernest Sowah and Seidu Bancey. He also alleged that, Equipment Officer, Issah Amadu also attacked him.
But in its ruling on Thursday, the Disciplinary Committee dismissed charges against Amos Frimpong, Ernest Sowah and Issah Amadu. On Amos Frimpong, the ruling said the committee was “Satisfied with the video evidence before it, that, the actions of Amos Frimpong after the final whistle of the match do not amount to a breach of regulations. The evidence does not support the charge” – the result of which the charges were dismissed.
On Ernest Sowah, the committee pointed out that, it “Considered all the evidence and holds that once the referee (against whom the offence occurred) was of the opinion that, the offence deserved only a yellow card as punishment; the Disciplinary Committee shall decline the invitation for further punishment”.
The decision on Issah Amadu has been captured in another report on this website. Details of all the rulings have as well been published on this website.
