Over 3,000 rice importers who operate from the Ivory Coast are worried about the likely impact the brewing election conflict could have on their business.
According to them the crisis threatens the very survival of their business.
Coordinator of the Small Scale Rice Importers, Solomon Kusi explains that until their recent stand-off with the Ghana Revenue Authority over new tariffs slapped on their imports, it was relatively cheaper and more convenient to import from the Ivory Coast.
According to Mr. Kusi, although they are having a tough time disposing off their current stock because of the relatively higher tariffs that have made them more expensive, they are unlikely to resume operations should the Ivorian crisis persist.
