An aircraft said to be carrying new Ghana cedi notes meant to be put in circulation in July was involved in a freak accident at the Kotoka International Airport.
The aircraft, a Boeing 747 cargo plane, was being off-loaded when its nose gradually lifted off the tarmac, pointing towards the sky.
The Atlas Air cargo plane from the Portuguese city of Santa Maria has been in the upright position at the Aviance cargo terminal (freight village) since Thursday night when the incident happened.
Airport officials however said a rescue team which was called in at the time of the incident was working to recover the aircraft as at midday.
