Chairman of the MTN FA CUP Committee Kurt Okraku has noted Bechem United and Okwahu United deserve to be in the finals of this year’s MTN FA Cup competition.
Okwahu defeated Liberty Professionals 3-2 on Penalties after a 1-1 scoreline while Bechem finished off Wa Rockets 2-0 in the other semi final game played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Many fans and pundits going into the Cup Competition were seeking for an Asante Kotoko or Hearts finals but Kurt Okraku believes the two sides have done well and must be lauded for reaching this far.
“We are happy that we have two very good teams that have make it to the ground finale.”
“The two teams deserve to be at the ground finale because this competition started with 118 clubs and these out of the rest of the teams competing have made it to the finals.”
“They have been able to beat all their opponent they came across. I think that the entire nation should give them respect because when we speak about following, there are certain clubs who traditionally have big followers and for that reason if they are involved in such a competition."
"Naturally you will do less work and there are other clubs that will attract followers because of the quality of play they exhibit but it will be very important for us to understand the working of the industry.”
The final is scheduled for August 30 in Cape Coast.
