The Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly will from next year embark on commercial rice production.
Officials say over 500 acres of land has been acquired for the project under the governments’ Youth in Agriculture Initiative.
District Chief Executive, Nana Asare Bediako, has told Nhyira FM's Kofi Asante ahead of the Farmer’s Day celebrations that the assembly has already cultivated part.
About 90 percent of the residents in the Atwima Nwabiagya District are engaged in farming.
Nana Bediako observed that the district will assist famers with basic inputs to increase productivity.
He said rehabilitation of roads in the cocoa growing areas will also receive attention.
