The Women's wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the new Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Wood to speed up the mechanisation of the courts and other reforms embarked upon by the late Justice Acquah.
This would speed up cases at the lower courts and help root out corruption in the judiciary, the statement said.
A statement signed by Ms Rita Asobayire, National Women Organiser of the party to congratulate the CJ said delays in cases adjudication had led to a situation where people no longer trusted the judicial system.
She added: "People now take the laws into their own hands and inflict instant justice on suspects without allowing the law to take its own course."
The statement commended all the women and men groups as well as the civil society for accepting and supporting the CJ during the nomination and vetting process by Parliament.
"Indeed her nomination and appointment attests to the fact that President John Kufuor and the NPP are committed to acknowledging potentials on merit".
The women expressed the hope that her appointment would help motivate women to aspire to higher heights.
