Ex-Asante Kotoko defender Dan (Pasee) Acquah has made a passionate appeal to followers of the club to be patient and remain resolute behind the club as it strives to pick up the pieces in the elite league.
Acquah told Charles Osei Asibey on Happy FM’s “Where are they?” programme that Kotoko was going through trying moments and things are not going as expected.
He also pleaded with the fans to give ‘freshers’ in the club reasonable time to find their rhythm and adjust to life at Kotoko since it takes extra courage and character for a player to warm into the team.
Dan Acquah recalled how a player like Shilla Alhassan struggled to find his rhythm during his first season with Kotoko, and how some supporters even called for his head, only for him to prove his critics wrong in the subsequent seasons.
He, however, urged the playing body to lift their game as the club struggles to bounce back.
The defender, who is awaiting a deal in Kuwait, noted that supporters’ disdain for what they (fans) term as “old players” has compelled him to look elsewhere to continue his career.
For the soft spoke, highly respectful and playful Acquah, he is not too old as the fans perceive, explaining he joined Kotoko as a young player hence his long stay at the side.
He said that the absence of established players like Stephen Oduro, Joe Hendricks and the like from the local league is one of the factors accounting for the league’s low patronage.
