President John Agyekum Kufuor leaves for Abuja, Nigeria on Friday, June 15 2007 to attend the mid-year ordinary summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and government.
Other African leaders are expected to attend the mid-year summit.
The Heads of State are expected to consider a new strategic vision which seeks to create a borderless zone for citizens of the sub-region to harness resources for development.
The Summit would review reports from the meetings of ECOWAS Council and the Mediation and Security Council as well as deliberate on the 2007 interim report of the Commission President, Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, who is billed for official swearing in.
Ahead of the Summit, ECOWAS Foreign Affairs Ministers are meeting on a regional approach to the management of migration, particularly within the region and to Europe.
