Vice Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Ahene Truly says he expects the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council to fast track their efforts in constructing the nation’s first boxing gymnasium to aid boxers in their preparation for major fights.
Most gyms in the country lack the quality apparatus to train boxers.
Despite the deplorable state of many of the gyms, the nation has produced some successful boxers in the World.
Ghana is yet to build a national boxing gymnasium, as promised by successive governments, but Mr. Truly believes the country’s sports authorities will soon facilitate the project.
He said most African countries had such facilities and it was about time Ghana put up a modern boxing gymnasium.
