Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingson says he will retire after the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Kingson, currently the most capped player in the Black Stars with 83 appearances, has been impressive since making his debut for the national team in 1996.
The 32-year-old’s club career has been revived at English Premier League side Blackpool.
Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingston has told Joy Sports he expects to improve his form to maintain his position in post for Blackpool this season.
Kingston has been impressive for the English Premiership club in all three matches played so far.
The 32-year-old made his debut for the club against Aston Villa, following an injury to first choice goalie Matthew Gilks and is expected to hold the fort till January.
Richard Kingston, who joined Blackpool in September this year, says it has not been easy after his contract expired at Wigan Athletic.
“As a goalkeeper or a player, when you get more playing time, you feel more comfortable and you improve your [performance],” he said.
Richard Kingson said he will take up a career in coaching after his retirement.
He said he will bring his vast experience in goal keeping to bear by training other young Ghanaian goal keepers.
