The lesser-financed sporting federations are threatening to drag the Sports Ministry to the human rights court for what they describe as unfair treatment to them.
Joy Sports understands the federations are unhappy with the Ministry's concentration on football and for that matter the Black Stars.
Over the years individuals within the federations have resorted to funding activities from their own pockets.
This practice, according to most of them must and the only way out is to sue the Sports Ministry.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuaye, who is Sports Minister ,tells Joy Sports he has asked the associations to calm down.
“I have tried to talk to the presidents of the federations involved, to let them understand, to have trust in me that my issuance is with them, that I will try as hard as possible to try and support each and every other sport and discipline… I pledge to make sure that happens,” he said
“The budget was in before I was in ministry. Unfortunately for me we also have been found to have committed mistakes that were committed in the past.”
But instead of dwelling on the past, he seems to want to be moving forward and fixing this gap. He never mentioned how he was going to solve these problems, but that we should trust in him to fix them.
