Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic says they’ll be wary of Sunderland’s Ghanaian ace Asamoah Gyan on Sunday.
Gyan has scored three times in his last two games as he settles to life in England.
This follows Gyan’s transfer from Rennes in the summer, and Ivanovic, who played against the striker at the World Cup, knows they will have to be on guard at the back if they are to preserve a clean sheet.
“He is a good player, has had great performances and is direct looking for goals and very aggressive, working hard for his teams,” Ivanovic said.
“We will have to be focused and concentrated on him, he is new to English football and wants to show in every game his best.
“At the World Cup we played against Ghana, they did better than every other African team, it’s a good team and they played very well against us.
“We didn’t find a solution for goals against them and then we gave them a penalty late in the game which changed the result.
“It was a very difficult game, and they showed later how good they were by arriving in the quarter-finals.”
