The Diplomatic Corps have signed the Book of Condolence in memory of Madam Fathia Nkrumah.
They were led by the Dean Alhaji Mohamed Mahmoud Benlabat of Mali and Deputy Dean El-Hadj Mamadou Falilou Bah, Guinea’s Ambassador to Ghana and Togo.
She was 75 years.
Other countries whose representatives signed the book included Nigeria, Cuba, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Algeria and South Africa.
Over 300 individuals, parliamentarians, politicians, the academia, compatriots of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, traditional rulers, serving and retired military officers, CPP Presidential hopeful Dr Kwaku Osafo and other leading members of the CPP are among those who have signed the book.
Speaking to the GNA El-Hadj Falilou Bah described the late Madam Fathia as the Mother of African liberation as her personal support and contribution behind the corridors of power impacted positively on the liberation movement.
He said: "The death of Madam Fathia on the eve of Ghana hosting the Ninth African Union Summit, President John Agyekum Kufuor's chairmanship of the continental body and within the Golden Jubilee celebration was very historic and significant and calls for sober reflection.”
"It should stir our current crop of leadership up as we meet in Ghana to move forward with the AU agenda for the total recognition of the black man and African continent.”
Madam Fathia married Dr Nkrumah at the age of 25 years on December 31, 1957.
