The Wa police have arrested four people who they say have been part of a burglary, motor theft syndicate in the Wa municipality.
The four suspects who are aged between 19 and 36 were arrested during a special operation conducted by the Upper West police command.
Deputy Upper West commander, ACP Dr Shayibu Gariba briefing the media said the four persons arrested would be processed for court on Tuesday.
Following the surge in burglary and motor theft cases in the Wa municipality of the Upper West Region, the police command has increased patrols to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and made to face the full rigors of the law.
Three suspects were arrested in the process.
They are Kofi Moses, 21, Bonyi Sixtus,19, and drinking spot owner, Akwasi Gyan, 25, who according to the police source is the mastermind of the group.
Deputy Upper West police commander, Dr Shayibu Gariba told the media that the trio has been part of a syndicate who has been stealing motorbikes and snatching mobile phones either at gun or knife point.
He said the same group is also responsible for the breaking into several houses in the municipality.
They were arrested with two local manufactured pistols, two ghetto blasters, four sharp cutlasses, two hacksaws, desktop computer, a pair of pliers, spanners, screwdrivers and catapult.
The fourth person arrested is a foreign herdsman, Adam Amidu, 36.
He was released from the Sunyani prisons a month ago after serving 6 years for selling narcotics.
Amidu was arrested by the police patrol team in Wa along with a locally manufactured pistol and a black face mask.
ACP Gariba assured the public that the police will do everything to ensure that the society is rid of with such criminals.
