A state of the art Homeopathic and Herbal Clinic has been inaugurated in Tema with a call on alternative medicine practitioners to organize training programmes for their supporting staff to bring them to acceptable standards.
Mr Hlortsi Akokpo, Registrar of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council at the Ministry of Health, said this would go a long way to complement government’s efforts at ensuring efficient alternative health care for Ghanaians.
The Gilead Homeopathic and Herbal Clinic (GHHC) at Community 11, comprises a Diagnostic, Consulting, Massaging, Records, Dispensary and Out-Patient-Department, manned by a medical specialist in counselling and assisted by two medical herbalists and other supporting staff.
Mr Akokpo said government was putting in place measures to effectively regulate the practice of alternative medicine, and assured Ghanaians of government’s preparedness to provide support in their health needs and challenges.
He commended management of the clinic for the laudable initiative and urged other public-spirited individuals to take up similar challenges to help government to improve the country’s health care delivery.
Right Reverend Samuel N. Mensah, President of the Full Gospel Church, who inaugurated the facility, said it was coming at an opportune time to provide residents in the metropolis with their health needs.
He reiterated the call on Ghanaians to adopt healthy lifestyles in order to avoid contracting diseases.
Rev Mensah urged Ghanaian doctors and nurses to stay at home and help develop the nation and expressed optimism that with quality leadership, the nation could move forward.
Rev Dr Eric Tetteh, Executive Director of GHHC, pledged the centre’s preparedness to provide the kind of service that would ensure improvement in the lives of the average Ghanaian in order to prolong the life span.
