Schalke coach Felix Magath believes it will take just one win to get his side's season going, and he hopes that will come against St Pauli tomorrow night.
The Royal Blues have been successful only once in the Bundesliga all season and need three points to move out of the bottom three.
And Magath feels it is high time the fans at the Arena AufSchalke were sent home happy.
"I am looking forward to the opportunity to finally win a home game in the Bundesliga tomorrow,'' he said.
"When you take a look around the league, you can see very clearly that, for example with Bayern Munich, one win is often all it takes to get things moving.'' A defeat against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend has increased the pressure on Magath, but he refuses to accept his team is in a relegation battle.
"We are still a long way from the end of the season,'' he said. "And just like I would never speak at this stage of the season about winning the league, I wouldn't like to talk about a relegation battle now either. Nevertheless, every game without three points does not take us any closer to our aim of working our way back into mid-table."
Tonight should have been a big occasion for former Schalke striker Gerald Asamoah, but a red card against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend means he is suspended for what would have been his first return to Gelsenkirchen.
One other former Schalke player will be in the St Pauli team this evening though is Carlos Zambrano who was taken on loan by St Pauli for two years and has become a central figure in their side, although his aggressive nature has earned him most headlines.
Nevertheless, coach Holger Stanislawski is happy to have such a committed player among his ranks. "I am happy when he is aggressive," he said. ”If anything I would rather have to cool a player down than motivate him."
Max Kruse should take Asamoah's place in the St Pauli attack, while Raul's position in the Schalke frontline has been questioned over the last few days.
The Spaniard has scored only once in 10 Bundesliga matches and Magath is believed to be considering leaving him out of his starting XI tomorrow with Ivan Rakitic taking his place.
