Former Ghana international John Paintsil has been named the new assistant coach for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, the South African club announced.
The former Leicester and Fulham returns to South Africa few months after being released by PSL side Maritzburg United.
Paintsil will now join the backroom staff at the Amakhosis, becoming the right hand man to former Bafana Bafana coach Steve Komphela.
Paintsil brought an end to his 17-year playing career last week after announcing his retirement, developed a good bond with Komphela during his time at Maritzburg United.
Paintsil was unveiled by the club and will be joined by Marco Muhnoz (physical trainer) and Alexandre Revoredo (goalkeeper coach).
The former Ghana international joins a list of former players such as Otto Addo, Ibrahim Tanko, C.K Akonnour and Yaw Preko to move into management.
