The Black Queens have started their quest for an honour that has eluded them for years in the African Women Championship on a bright note.
The Ghanaians beat their Algerian counterparts by two goals to one in the ongoing African Women Championship in South Africa.
They put up a sterling performance, coming from behind to beat the Algerians in the second half.
The Algerians showed great potential and drew the first blood in the fourth minute of the game. But the Queens, who showed signs of rustiness at the initial stages of the game, took control in the later stages of the first half.
Returning from the break, the Queens, who rediscovered their self belief took charge of the game, putting the Algerians under constant and intense pressure.
Their efforts paid off in the 62nd minute when they cancelled the Algerian’s lead and 10 minutes later found the net again to fetch the winner - both goals scored by Adokpu.
They next play Cameroun Friday.
Meanwhile defending Champions Equatorial Guinea drew 2-2 in the other Group B encounter earlier today.
