Managers of Kotoko have formally written to the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) notifying them of spurious allegations by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Bechem United, Bismark Danso against Kotoko and several other people.
The PRO, in a radio interview after the Kotoko-Bechem United FA Cup quarterfinal match in Kumasi last Sunday, alleged that, General Manager, Opoku Nti approached Bechem United to play it soft.
Apart from casting aspersions at the competition’s sponsor, Bismark Danso further alleged that, Kotoko bribed Referee Prince Amoah who as a result was bias in his handling of the match.
Bechem United won the said match 3-2 on penalties after it ended 1-1 in 120 minutes.
In Kotoko’s letter dated June 22, 2016 and signed by Accra Representative, Edmund Ackah; the management called on the GFA’s Ethics Committee to invite the PRO to either justify or back his claims saying that, the PRO’s remarks have tarnished the image and reputation of Kotoko.
“The PRO’s remarks have dragged our name into the mud” said the letter. Kotoko also reported the behaviour of the GFA’s Venue Media Officer in Bechem, Prince Agyeman Duah who it accused of “circulating similar allegations on the same match” on social media.
“As an officer of the GFA, we find Prince Agyeman Duah’s attitude reprehensible…The actions of Bismark Danso and Prince Agyeman Duah are inimical to the growth of our football hence our call on you to look into it and take appropriate action” said management’s letter.
