The Kyebi Police have mounted a search for some members of the Okyenhene Task Force for allegedly shooting a galamsey operator on Monday at Habitat, a suburb of Kyebi.
The victim, Samuel Agyekum, was shot in the leg by one Kofi Wayo, a member of the task force who is now at large.
Speaking to the media, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, (PRO) Chief Inspector Nketia-Yeboa, said the task force went to the area to look for one of the galamsey operators but could not find him.
He said about 10 minutes later, the task force went to the same place and then started shooting indiscriminately and in the process hit the victim's leg.
The Police PRO said Agyekum was rushed to the Kyebi Government Hospital where he was admitted and the doctors removed some of the pellets.
Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said after the incident, all the members of the task force went into hiding but one of them, Kwame Asiedu, 30, was arrested.
He is in police custody assisting in investigations.
He assured that the police would search for all the perpetrators in the act and bring them to book.
