MP faults government for Stars poor show against Sudan

The MP for Atwima Mponua, Isaac Asiamah has accused the government of irresponsibility by not fulfilling its promise to the Black Stars squad that competed at this year’s World Cup, South Africa 2010. President Mills promised every member of the World Cup squad $20,000 but the money is yet to be paid. The Black Stars are also yet to receive GHS35,000 each as appearance fees at the World Cup. The MP said the delay by the government is unpardonable. He is convinced the non-payment of the money to players must have affected their morale leading to their lackluster performance at the last African Cup qualifier with Sudan in Kumasi. “They are professionals and a professional player earns a living through what he does, it is about football so if you play a match and then you are promised of some money and the money is not forthcoming, obviously it will affect your performance,” he stated.
