Ghanaian players were busy at the weekend for their clubs in the various European Leagues.
Dennis Mirpuri monitored the players and reports that Ghana defender Harrison Afful played the entire duration of the game as he helped his side Esperance to reach the CAF Champions League final after beating Al Ahly 1-0 in Tunis.
In Europe, three Ghanaian players were introduced as substitutes in this weekend’s matches for their various clubs. Kwadwo Asamoah came on as a 69th minute substitute as he helped struggling Udinese to a 1-0 away win over Brescia in the Italian Serie A.
Kevin Prince Boateng replaced Clarence Seedorf in the 79th minute in AC Milan’s 3-1 win over Chievo.
Midfielder Sulley Muntari had four minutes of playing time as a substitute in Inter Milan’s 1-0 away win over Cagliari.
In France, Black Stars midfielder Andre Ayew played 58 minutes as he helped Olympique Marseille to a 1-0 win over AS Nancy Lorraine.
Quincy Owusu Abeyie played the entire duration of the game for Malaga in their 4-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.
Derek Boateng played 61 minutes in Getafe’s 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid. In Germany, Isaac Vorsah enjoyed 85 minutes of action as his side TSG Hoffenheim triumphed 3-2 over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Elsewhere in England, Michael Essien played 90 minutes and was yellow carded in Chelsea’s goalless draw with Aston Villa in the English Premiership.
