The Ghana Oil and Gas Service Providers Association (GOSPA) is calling on the government to compel the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to account for 340,000 dollars it took to register members of the association.
Executive Secretary of GOSPA, Nortey Agyeman said the corporation collected a thousand dollars each from over 340 companies to enlist them as service providers in the oil and gas sector.
He however told Joy Business the GNPC has failed to secure a contract for any of the local service providers from the established oil firms.
He claimed the GNPC was competing with the very people it took money from to secure contracts for.
“If you chase the job, they will tell you, ‘GNPC says I shouldn’t deal with anybody but GNPC itself’ and if GNPC doesn’t like your face you won’t hear anything.”
Mr Agyeman accused the GNPC of withholding information from the Oil and Gas Service Providers.
Director of Administration at the GNPC, Andrew Badoo Lartey, however said GOSPA has no case.
He said the GNPC did not enter into any agreement with any company to broker deals for that company.
