The National Petroleum Authority says it will investigate reports that Togolese consumers are increasingly taking advantage of the relatively low price of the country’s LPG.
According to a GNA report most residents have resorted to buying the product in Ghana because it is much cheaper.
The country in recent times has been faced with a shortage of the product and it is believed the increasing patronage by Togolese consumers could worsen the situation.
Public Affairs Manager at the National Petroleum Authority Yaro Kasambata told Joy Business the authority for now is unaware of the development.
He situation Ghana-Togo border is such that it is extremely difficult to tell who is a Togolese and to put measures to stem the tide.
Mr Kasambata said the issue will be monitored carefully to see the extent to which the activities of Togolese LPG consumers was exacerbating the shortage of the product in Ghana.
