Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuije has urged the Black Stars to get a win in the penultimate AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.
The Stars will confirm their participation to the tournament in Gabon next month should they avoid defeat and the Minister has told the players to go for the win.
“On Sunday Ghanaians are expecting you to put smiles on their faces.”
“The first time I followed a national team to Mauritius was the U-23 team and we won by 6-1 and the second time was the Black Stars and we won again by 6-0, so you are going into this match with a reputation and that is the more reason why they will also be determined to at least put a halt to the record Ghana have over them.”
“We have a reputation because we have done it before but this time they have not lost any match at home because I have personally followed them and all their two matches they have played at home, they have won all of them in this qualifying series.”
“But I know we will prove them wrong and in order to make things easy for us, let’s focus on the match and we shouldn’t allow complacency to set into the team because Ghanaians are expecting nothing but a victory.”
Ghana are scheduled to leave for Mauritius on Friday.
