Former Asante Kotoko board member Kennedy Agyapong ( Kenpong) has expressed gratitude to the thousands of well wishers who showed up at Kwahu Mpraeso to support him during the burial of his late mother Janet Yaa Biamah.
The massive representation from the political, judicial, royal, police service, business, sports, media, entertainment etc at the Mpraeso Stadium, was enough testament to how Kenpong has affected many lives in the country and the love many have for him.
He succeeded in moving almost all who matter in every influential personality to the serene mountains.
Announcements from emcee Nana Adjei Sikapa of entries of dignitaries at the Vodafone-branded funeral grounds generated intense applause from the massive crowd that thronged to the stadium.
But it was Dr Mahmoud Bawumia's that was greeted with the loudest applause, turning the funeral into a political rally temporarily.
“It is the biggest crowd in terms of funerals in the history of Kwahu, I am a native here and I know what I am talking about. There were 17 funerals this weekend yet Kenpong pulled all the crowd, almost all high profile personalities on this land is here to show him love. He has collapsed all the funerals this weekend trust me,” George (Dada Boat) of Adabraka Business Tycoon fame said.
ROYAL
The Asantehene Otumfuo osei Tutu lI sent a high powered delegation numbering close to 60 with five sub chiefs to make a representation.
Otumfuo also instructed the delegation to honour the deceased with a special golden rings to signify royalty, a gesture Kenpong described as a huge honour.
Many other chiefs from Kwahu and its surrounding areas made good representations.
BUSINESS
Dr Osei Kwame Despite and the Despite Group team, Ernest Bediako (Ernest chemist), Isaac Tetteh (TT Brothers), Harry Zakkuor, Adabraka business tycoons led by Dada Boat and East Legon Big Boys among others were there to mourn with the astute business man and his siblings.
GFA
President of the Ghana football association (GFA) Kwasi Nyantakyi and his team as well as outspoken football administrator Alhaji Gruzah were there too.
Members of the Kotoko family dressed in their traditional red outfit led by General manager Opoku Nti paid back the love Kenpong has shown to the club for almost two decades.
SWAG
Eloquent president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana ( SWAG) Kwabena Yeboah and his team, president of the Ghana weight lifting Federation Ben Nunoo Mensah responded to the roll call.
with great backing from the SWAG team, high-life icon Amakye Dede, who delivered a masterful two-day performance danced his way to Kenpong at his seat on the funeral grounds.
Daddy Lumba crowned the ceremony at the Ohene Nana Pub after a memorial service at the Apostolic church where DSP Kofi Sarpon led the worship segment of the service.
Police commissioner Rose Bio Atinga, MP for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu, Tema MP Irene Naa Torshie Addo, and Kwabena Agyapong, Acheampong, MP for Mpreaso, , Ken Atefah, Hon Hackman Owusu Agyeman, Sammy Awuku, NPP national Youth Organizer, Madam Hila, Nana Akufo Addo special aid, Amofah of Kingdom Herbal fame, Sammy Kuffuor, Armah Senegal, Abraham Boakye(One man) were also present.
Others who showed the business man love were highlife legend Nana Ampadu I, boxing hall of fame inductee Azumah Nelson supported his friend Kenpong.
Lawyer Egbert Fabille Jnr who has represented the businessman in court was present likewise socio-political commentator Kwesi Prat Jnr.
