Flood victims at Santa Maria are not happy with the relief items brought to them by the National Disaster Management Organisation on Tuesday.
The NADMO is distributing relief items such as bags of rice, mugs, cups, buckets, sugar and cloths to victims there, but the victims said that would not alleviate their plight.
They told Joy News a proper assessment of their needs was not done by NADMO. The flood victims were expecting building materials like roofing sheets among others to rebuild their demolished structures.
“The people say what they need now is a place to lay down their heads and not food,” Joy News Evans Mensah reported from Santa Maria.
However, he said scuffle broke out among the people when officials of NADMO offloaded a truck load of relief items by the roadside leaving them in the care of landlords to share.
The police were called in to maintain order.
