The deputy skipper of the Black Stars, John Mensah says his side needs to guard against complacency as they come against Sudan in Sunday's clash.
Speaking on Asempa FM, John Mensah reminded his teammates that Sudan qualified on their own merit and could be dangerous if taken for granted.
John Mensah returns to the side after missing the three nil thrashing of Swaziland due to a niggling knee injury. John, affectionately called “The Rock of Gibraltar”, was part of the side which defeated Sudan during the previous World Cup and nations’ Cup qualifiers at home and in Khartoum.
John believes his colleagues should not underrate Sudan even though victory is certain as they will play their hearts out to make Ghanaians happy.
He assured that the team's unpaid bonuses will in no way affect their commitment to the game on Sunday, saying the squad expects that government officials will fulfill promise to pay up made to them on Wednesday.
John insisted that he is still the deputy captain of the side and is just acting as captain until a substantive skipper is named by the managers of the side to replace the mercurial Stephen Appiah, on his way out of international football.
He was thankful to Ghanaians for the tremendous support given to the team and called on Ghanaians to summon their passion for the game and come to the Baba Yara stadium to cheer them on for a win.
