The Kuntanase magistrates' court has imposed a 3.4 million-cedis fine on Isaac Dapaah, a driver for careless driving and negligently causing harm.
He will serve six-months jail term in default of the payment of the fine.
Police Chief Inspector Thomas Bossman Tuffour told the court presided over by E.K. Adjanor, that on May 10 this year, Dapaah who was driving from Kumasi to Kuntanase on reaching Prenyase negligently knocked down Kofi Ampratwum, an eight-year-old boy who was walking by the roadside.
The boy was rushed to the Pramso hospital where he was later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where he is responding to treatment.
