Ghana's leading mobile telecommunications giant, MTN says technical difficulties it is experiencing on the SAT 3 submarine cables entirely out of its control may result in intermittent Data Services.
“The SAT 3 cables are the main fibre that carries internet traffic and related services between West Africa and Europe and as such, MTN subscribers are currently experiencing intermittent Data Services,” a statement signed by its Corporate Services Executive, Mrs Mawuena Trebarh noted.
It said services that will be most affected are the GPRS and 3G data traffic, Emails from outside MTN Ghana domain, Blackberry Services, Internet browsing and other Internet supported services as well as congestion on international call transfers.
It however assured subscribers that its technical team has a contingency plan in place and “is moving subscriber internet traffic and related services to another facility”.
The statement apologised to customers and said the transfer is expected to be completed by midnight on Friday.
