Cocoa farmers will from this Friday get more for the produce they sell to the licensed buying companies.
According to the producer price review committee, farmers, effective 1st October will receive GH¢200 for the 64 kilo bag, GH¢50 more on the last producer price.
The new price will translate into a GH¢3,200 per tonne up from 2,400 cedis.
The new price was announced by the Finance Minister, Dr kwabena Duffour at a news conference on Tuesday.
Government through the producer price review committee determines how much the cocoa farmers are paid for their produce after consultations with their representatives and the licensed buying companies.
