Accra Hearts of Oak match-winner Samuel Yeboah admits scoring the winning goal over Berekum Chelsea will boost his confidence in coming matches.

The experienced striker returned from injury in the match against Kotoko and although he did not have a bad game, he was not able to help the team to a win over our arch-rivals.

Yeboah was, however, the match-winner in last Sunday’s 0-1 win over Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park. He scored in the 59th minute to help Hearts break a winless run at the home of Chelsea and also to get his first goal since match-day four.

“I think it was a very difficult game but we were determined to win the game. The pitch was not all that good but we managed to get the win and that’s what is important," Yeboah told facebook.com/accraheartsofoak

“After the Kotoko game, most of the players were dispirited; our spirits were down because we really wanted to win that game but it is unfortunate we could win that game. The league is long; it is about a year and it is not only about one game. You may lose games and you have to win games if you want to be at the top.

"But maybe last week was not for us though we were determined to be at the top last week so maybe it was not God’s will. But you see this week, we are there so everything we give thanks to God because he knows what is best.”

Yeboah was happy to get his third league goal for Hearts – and his first on the road for the season – and he believes being back amongst the goals will help him score more.

“It is good to score – and as a striker, you have to score,” he said. “I think it’s about three matches that I have not scored because I was injured for some time but it will bring back my confidence and I think my performance will go high. As a striker if you go in and score, it gives you more confidence to score everything time and that is what I am looking forward to.”

He concluded: “The fans should keep on supporting the team and put what happened in the Kotoko game behind us. The fans should come to the stadium in their numbers; they should support us. I know it is very difficult because we disappointed them the last time. But come on, it is only one game.

"We have a lot of games ahead – even if we had won the Kotoko game, that match would not have brought us the league trophy – so it is important we win all the other games and that I think can give us the trophy. The fans should keep on supporting the team and we are going to give of our best to make them happy.”
