Mr Daniel Eshun, the District Chief Executive for Ellembele, has appealed to the youth to assist in the development of Nkroful by accepting posting to the community.
He said this when members of tourism clubs and the Traditional Caterers Association visited the birth and the original burial place of late President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah at Nkroful.
The visit was organized by the Western Regional office of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) as part of the activities of the Regional Celebration of World Tourism Day on Tuesday.
The Day was under the theme “Tourism and Bio-Diversity”.
Mr Eshun said Nkroful was crying for help and people, particularly the youth, who had benefited from the programmes of Dr Nkrumah to come to its aid and uplift the lives of the people.
The DCE said accepting posting to the area was one way people could show appreciation to Dr Nkrumah who fought for the poor and the down-trodden.
Mr Eshun said the government would play its part in the development of the area but the people should complement government’s efforts.
He said he was happy that the visit coincided with the birthday of Dr Nkrumah who should be emulated by the youth and participate in national development.
Mr Michael Kpingbi, Chief Resource Officer at the Regional Office of the GTB, said tourism practitioners should make sure that tourism activities did not impact negatively on the ecosystem.
