Two men have been jailed a total of six years six months for resisting arrest, assaulting a public officer and possessing Indian hemp by the Asante-Bekwai circuit court.
They are Charles Oppong, a farmer and Attah Chonsa, unemployed who had four years and 30 months respectively.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Thomas Bossman Tuffour told the court, presided over by Richard Agyei Frimpong that on August 30 last year, the Jachie police, upon a tip-ff that some people had turned the Pronyase public cemetery near Jachie into Indian hemp smoking spot, carried out a swoop in the area.
He said Oppong and Chonsa resisted arrest and in the process assaulted one of the policemen but they were however, overpowered and sent to the police station.
A search on Oppong discovered 29 brown wrappers of Indian hemp while Chonsa was caught smoking the stuff.
Police, after investigation charged them with the offence.
