Ghana Football Association medical team Dr Prince Pambo has explained the risk players go through considering the current weather condition.

There have been complains from people from all walks of life concerning the current heat situation stating it is harmful to their health.

Football clubs in Ghana have not been an exception as coach of Premier League side, Berekum Chelsea, has also complained of the effects the situation is having on his team.

From the medical perspective, there could be ramifications for the players and Dr Pambo has explained to Joy Sports.

“We are all worried for our players but thankfully there is a way out  which is we having a cooling break or what they call water break,” he said.

“The effects of playing under such high temperatures are quite enormous-apart from the fact that players lose lot more water by way of dehydration, the produce a lot more heat which goes to affect the muscles and predisposes them to injuries- there is the issue of fatigue and the final is heatstroke where people can even collapse and possibly die.

“So yes in the 2014 World Cup FIFA introduced the cooling break and that is the way to go in this hot weather.”

Judging by the comments of Dr. Pambo, water breaks have not been ruled of Premier League matches in the country.
