Management of the Metro Mass Transit System has kicked out hundreds of staff who they say are not performing.
Some of the staff were also dismissed for engaging in underhand deals that were crippling the company.
This came to light when company officials visited the Central Region branch to interact with staff and assess facilities in Agona Swedru.
Mr. Antwi Gyamfi, Board Chairman of the MMT told Joy FM’s correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko that his outfit will take steps to reverse the dwindling fortunes of the company.
According to him, the former MD and the Human Resource Manager of the company in their bid to check how the buses are operated in parts of the country were shocked to learn on one occasion that only nine passengers had tickets out of a total of 49 who boarded the bus in Tamale.
“If we realize that you are cheating the system we show you the way. We are getting rid of the bad nuts,” he stated.
He said the company will repair all buses that have broken down and install gadgets in the buses to regulate speed.
