Milo must keep his word – Paintsil

Milovan Rajevac's departure as Ghana's coach looks imminent, but officials at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) cannot confirm this, saying they have not been notified by the Serbian. While the nation awaits the final word from the Serbian, stalwart defender, John Paintsil, has challenged Rajevac to stick to his word and stay on with the Black Stars. The Fulham right back captained the Black Stars in their 3-0 win over Swaziland in a Nations Cup qualifier last Sunday, but the result has been overshadowed by the growing possibility that Rajevac will fall for the bait of wealthier clubs in the Arab world and go back on a promise to sign an extended new deal with the Black Stars. Rajevac has asked for about a week to think through his options, and senior officials of the GFA now admit they have no clue whether he will agree to stay on. And that uncertainty has seeped through players of the Black Stars, many of whom have no clue who their boss will be when they arrive in town for the second game in the qualifiers on October 10 against The Sudan. After returning from the 2010 World Cup to a hero's welcome, Rajevac said in several interviews that he wanted to continue working as Stars' coach, and Paintsil is hoping Rajevac will keep his word. " He loves Ghana so much and promised to stick with us, so I don't think that move is going to work only hope the news making the rounds are just rumours and that he will indeed stay on," Paintsil said. GFA president Kwasi Nyantakyi said the association had not been notified by the Serbian and it was still awaiting word from him since the seven-day ultimatum given him had not expired. Rajavac is reportedly in Jeddah where he will take over at Al-Ahly Jeddah on a deal far more rewarding than the $600,000 a year deal that Ghana had put on the table. Saudi press reports say Rajevac has already agreed a three-year contract, according to club president Prince Khalid bin Fahd. Source: Daily Graphic
